Imagine that we're sitting together, having a coffee or any specific beverage you like, these are some of the questions that we would be asking you.
What's your first name?
Nice to meet you, , what's your last name?
OK, let's grab your email address so that's out of the way and we can send you your results at the end.
Thanks , and can we please get your date of birth?
I know it's not the most polite question but it will be very helpful, as you'll soon see.
Are you Single or in a Relationship?
What's your partners first name?
And what's your partner's date of birth?
The next two sections are all about those other people in your life and then about your future.
These questions apply to you and your partner.
Are your parents still with you?
Are your grandparents still with you?
Did you know that we are finding it is now 'the normal' to have both multiple dependant generations below and ABOVE us?
Planning for this situation, for many, is now a necessity.
Do you have pre-teen children?
Ahh the Beautiful Chaos!
Usually, we find that the pressures of this 'beautiful chaos' stage, while starting a family or have small ones in the house, have meant that some areas of your life, like planning for the future or looking after your health are probably being neglected in the chaos.
And while designing your next decade, these children are going to be, or going to be very close to turning into, teenagers!!!
Interesting, the majority of people who have come to Design a Decade for help have been between their late 20s and early 40s, with preteen children; their 'beautiful chaos' has set it (This part should probably be left out of here and put in the email response).
Do you have any teenagers?
The weight of teens!
Here at Design a Decade we joke that during this stage the 'weight of teens' actually could also mean the 'wait' of teens. We have the weight of pressure on us as we support these young people from childhood to adulthood, along with waiting for them to move out!
In all seriousness though, this is a very hard stage of life for many as they usually have bigger expenses with a growing family and less 'free time'.
Do you have any grandchildren?
You say no now, but those teenagers you have, in a decades time...
Who knows?!?
Any other dependants?
Awesome. Now, quick question:What do you first look for when building a puzzle:
Maybe... but it's usually that you look at the image on the box to know what you are building!
That's right, something else, you look at the image on the box to know what you are building!
For this next section, we're going to have a closer look at the twelve areas of this puzzle.
Thinking about your Time, would you say that you have sufficient uncommitted time?
This is time in your week when you don't have to be anywhere doing anything for anybody else.
Thinking about your Relationships, would you say that you have trusted personal and professional relationships?
These are people that you could call on, day or night in an emergency and not only have your best interests at heart, but the skills to help you through this situation and aren't looking to gain anything for themselves.
Thinking about your current Income, would you say that you have excess funds every week?
More money coming in than going out.
Thinking about your Expenses, would you say that you have any unpaid bills?
Thinking about your Planning, would you say that you have a clear plan for all areas of your life?
Not just the areas of your life you enjoy working on, but all of them.
Thinking about your Personal Development, would you say that you read, listen, and associate, to gain personal knowledge to support life decisions?
And is this across different areas of learning, not just in your favourite area?
Thinking about your Health and Fitness, would you say that you have sufficient health and fitness for your family?
Thinking about your Lifestyle, would you say that you have sufficient hobbies, interests and holidays?
Thinking about your Home, would you say that you have a home to suit your needs and lifestyle?
Thinking about your Investment, would you say that you have sufficient genuine investments for your future?
Thinking about your Future, would you say that you have multiple enjoyable, time-flexible incomes?
Would you say you have a clear understanding what it means to take a risk or speculate?
And, how this understanding applies to all areas of your life, not just financial decisions.
Phew! Good job, we made it.
Let's have a look at some basic results.
At a quick glance you had:
Great's out of 12, OK's out of 12 and Needs Work out of 12!
And that's phenomenal - almost nobody gets this!
So let's work out what's next.
And that's OK - there is always something that needs to be worked on
And we are right here with you - almost everyone, with a really good look at their life needs support.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this .
